About Us
The Asian Smokers’ Quitline (ASQ) is a free nationwide Asian-language quit smoking service operated by the Moores Cancer Center at the University of California, San Diego. ASQ is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
ASQ counseling is free, easy, convenient, and has been clinically proven to double smokers’ chances of quitting for good.
ASQ services:
Telephone counseling
You can develop a quitting plan that’s right for you—by working one-on-one with a trained telephone counselor. Self-help materials will also be mailed to smokers to explain the basics of quitting. Services are available in Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Vietnamese
Counselors are available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Pacific Time, 10a.m. to 12 a.m., Eastern Time. Or sign up 24/7 online. If a voice message is received after hours, call will be responded within the next business day.

Materials to help someone quit
Family and friends can be an important source of support and motivation for a person who is trying to quit smoking. Free Nicotine Patches
Smokers who speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and Vietnamese may be eligible for a free two-week starter kit of nicotine patches, sent directly to their home. To see if you qualify, call ASQ to find out.
